Three years after Columbus’ death, in 1506, his remains were moved to his family mausoleum in Sevilla. In 1542, his remains were transported again to Santo Domingo in Hispaniola, which is now the Dominican Republic. They were then moved again in 1795 to Havana, Cuba. Finally in 1898 his remains returned to Sevilla, perhaps having traveled as much as he did when he was alive.
